Armed only with a pencil and a sheet of paper, they are able to create unimaginable works. Five students from l'École secondaire catholique La Citadelle have had the chance to show their work at the CAPE festival from 23 to 24 April 2016, at the Benson Centre.

Indeed, Josée Bourdon, Elizabeth Stuart, Alexandre Séguin, Isabella Deschamps and Skyler Boismenu all won a competition that gave them the right to an experience worthy of great artists.

According to a press release of the founders of the comics festival, Carole Grant and Randy Sauve, the works of fifty students from the ninth to the twelve grades, coming from every school in Cornwall, were chosen to appear in front of a special edition of Walking Dead.

"The TV show and comic Walking Dead were the theme of the festival this year," said Alexander.

Walking Dead is a television series, horror, American, first broadcast from October 31, 2010.

Following a post apocalyptic epidemic which transformed almost all of the US and world population living dead, a group of men and women desperately trying to survive.

The art teacher of La Citadelle, Josée Poirier, approached the five young artists to participate in the contest.

"She asks us if we wanted to participate, said Josée, We all said yes."

The five have therefore undertaken to create drawings, either in color or black and white. "It took me about five hours to make, said Isabella But I finished it in two nights."

When asked what type of design they prefer, they all responded the manga and the cartoon style as realistic influence.

The manga is actually a Japanese comic in black and white and codes special graphics.

They are in the form of a novel and reads from right to left.

But the love of art is not new for the five students since they all hope to pursue a career in the field.

"I'd like to go to Algonquin College in animation, to create .cartoons for young people," says Isabella.
